Lawsuits/Foreclosures/Repossessions
Can home foreclosure be stopped?
Home foreclosure can be stopped by either Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy. The bankruptcy needs to be filed before
the sheriff's sale date or a contract cancellation. Chapter 7 will allow time to become current on back mortgage payments.
Chapter 13 allows you to take the amount of mortgage arrearages and make a structured payment over a period of time to cure
the back mortgage payments, while paying your on going current mortgage payments.
